As some of you may know there are some issues with CaFC on our website. These issues seem to be concentrated in the location search feature only, other methods of searching clinic (by name or through the A-Z listing) are functional. We are looking into some other reports of related functions not working as well.
You may be aware that the changes made to the Choose a fertility clinic function on our website have been the subject of a legal challenge brought by the Assisted Reproduction and Gynaecology Centre (ARGC).
22/10/2018 - In September’s edition of Clinic Focus we advised that the new edition of the Code of Practice, subject to sign off from the Secretary of State, will go live later this year.
The best way for men to ensure that their gametes are available to their wives or partners for use in fertility treatment in the event of their death, is to store them at an HFEA licensed clinic during their lifetime and to provide written consent to storage and posthumous use. There is sometimes a mistaken view that family members can give consent on behalf of the gamete provider when he cannot do so himself, and that the law has changed to allow harvesting and use in the absence of consent. This is not the case and the HFEA has not changed its stance.

01/03/2018 - New guest speakers have been announced for this year’s HFEA conference. Jackie Doyle-Price MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Mental Health and Inequalities, Louise Brown and Dr. John Webster who delivered Louise will all give short talks.
The minutes of the December 2017 meeting with the Code of Practice Update (October 2018) Working Group are now available. The meeting discussed the main proposed changes to the Code of Practice for the October 2018 update.
08/02/2018 - Once again, this year’s HFEA Annual Conference will be CPD accredited. Delegates can claim one point per hour of attendance, excluding breaks.
