We have published our first ever ‘state of the sector’ that provides an overview of the performance of the UK fertility sector and incorporates the annual incidents and compliance activity reports.
The report shows how clinics and laboratories performed during 2016-17, and highlights the progress the sector has made in reducing the rate of multiple births. 86% of clinics met the stretching target of not more than 10% multiple births. This is a real achievement: by working together we have successfully reduced the national multiple birth rate from 24% in 2009 to 11% today.
The report also indicates that clinics and laboratories perform well on compliance with our standards and from the information collected during inspection patients’ experience of care appears to be good – which is encouraging.
